A visitor to the Wilayat of Bausher can see the thriving culture of modern Oman where the beauty has an address. Bausher is considered as one of the prosperous wilayats of the Muscat Governorate. A limitless destination full of culture, excitement, modern facilities and incredible service, the wilayat has 43 villages and cities namely Bausher, Al Khuwair, Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, Al Ghubra, Al Athaiba, Ghala, Madinat Al Ilam, Al Sarooj, Al Ansab, Al Hamam, Al Misfat and Al Awabi.


Bausher embraces a number of significant and august, historic landmarks, including the Grand House, the House of Lady Thuraya, Fath Castle and Fort, towers and ancient remains of an ancient civilisation.


Bausher is also famous for its beautiful beaches, abundant water, and hot spring water, mosques, modern service, making the wilayat as among the most preferable spots in Oman. Historians who have traced back its history to the second millennium BC and discovered significant events and evidences proving its antiquity. The area was anciently named (Abusher) following the chaos that the region had witnessed, but later was changed into (Bausher) after it got stable.


Wilayat of Bausher is characterised by modern culture and epochal landmarks and achievements. It hosts a number of government ministries, specialised hospitals, the Media City, Royal Opera House Muscat, rapidly-growing hypermarkets that have contributed to the economic revivification of Oman and Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.


There is extensive cultivation in the main villages of the wilayat that mainly relies on aflajs streaming from the foothills and irrigating farms spreading across the wilayat.


Agriculture is one of the main conventional occupations that the people of Bausher practice. The most important crops cultivated in the wilayat are citrus, lemon and fodder.


In addition to agriculture, there are fishing and livestock breeding, as well as some traditional industries, such as gold, silver, and handicrafts making.


The inhabitants perform deep-rooted folk arts like Zaffah ‘Dan Dan’, Al Razha, Qaranqasho, as well as other arts such as Al Tahaloula, Taymiyyah, and Eideya.


The blessed Renaissance has left noticeable marks on the wilayat that each stands as a witness for what have been achieved in the prosperous era. There is an integrated-ministries district, and foreign and Arabic embassies accredited to the Sultanate.


To enjoy sport facilities, there is Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex and Oman Sport Club. Bausher enjoys health services as there are Bausher Health Center, Royal Hospital and Bausher Health Complex. The wilayat encompasses outstanding and fabulous hotels, amongst are InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Grand Hyatt Muscat, Radisson Blu, Al Seeb Novotel and Majan Hotel.
